FAQs

  • Besides the fact that our fireplaces add a wonderful aesthetic to any home, having a reliable heat source is something you may never need to think about until the power goes out in the middle of winter and you have no way to heat your home.

  • If only it was that easy!

Each fireplace is unique and requires a specific size pipe and run to go up the wall.

Each fireplace is also different with their own unique clearances to combustible.

We want to make sure each fireplace is safely installed, and successfully heating your home.

  • Sadly no, you can’t do this.

The reason behind why you can’t situate them any way you want is because they are specifically designed for proper air flow throughout the unit and black soot doesn’t start to produce around the logs and inside the unit.

This can cause serious damage to your fireplace and your gas log set.

  • Yes, you can!

Specific gas inserts require a specific clearance to combustibles, we will have to come and measure your existing fireplace to determine the correct size insert you can put inside.

Putting a gas insert inside your wood burning fireplace is a great upgrade when you don’t want to worry about any open flame issues and having a constant reliable heat source for those cold winter months.

  • Yes!

According to The National Association of Realtors, adding a fireplace can raise your home value by as much as $12,000!

  • Your fireplace shouldn’t have a large amount of soot or creosote built up.

Creosote is a hard, tar-like substance created when soot combines with moisture or when wood smoke condenses and cools.

The buildup of these substances indicates a problem with your firebox, burner, chimney, or ventilation that should be promptly addressed.

  • Glass fogging on the inside of your fireplace is a nuisance when it happens.

The reasoning behind this though is because there is condensation on the inside of your unit.

  • To unclog a pellet stove auger first look to manually screw the auger to attempt to remove the blockage using a dedicated button, clean the pellets and dust out of the hopper using a vacuum and clean the pellet chute if reachable.

Have a technician service the stove if the auger keeps jamming.

A wood-burning fireplace is not energy efficient.

This is because 90% of the heat produced is lost through the chimney.

The heat in the room is only 10% of all heat.

The hot air in the room can also be pulled back into the firebox and then released through the chimney.

Wood burning fireplaces are common in most homes because they add aesthetics to the room.

  • An open or unsealed damper in a well-insulated house can raise overall energy consumption by up to 30 percent, or nearly $200 per year.

According to the Department of Energy, an average home spends approximately $600 per year.
